Never Give Up!
I just read thru a political post and some comments from sympathetic ideologues decrying their apparent failure to successfully oppose and prevent the wrongs of their perceived opponents.
So, I offer this to all who despair of their chances of victory in the battles of life:
“… in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” – Acts 5:38-39 (the “bottom line” advice of Gamaliel, a leader of the Pharisees [one of the ruling factions, at the time and place] and a big segment of the populace, on persecution/punishment of the Apostles and Disciples of the Christ)
From this sage advice we may draw the lesson and recognize the truth that you need not concern yourself with the outcome of the war, or even the smaller theater of war where you battle, so long as you are sure that you ‘re on the right side of the issue and you don’t fail to do your duty.
“Don’t worry ‘bout the fight, worry about the right… and don’t quit.” – Stephen D. Lucas(1952-), former soldier, current writer, speaker and minister
And this:
"’I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved; I will obey my special orders and perform all of my duties in a military manner; I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions, to the commander of the relief.’ -- U.S. Army’s First, Second and Third General Orders
Your relief will come When the Lord returns, or he calls you home.
Your general orders are contained in the word of God, and special orders may come from His Holy Spirit and from His representatives among your brothers and sisters in His service.
Put on the ‘full armor of God’ and prayerfully report and confer with the Lord, in all your activities. (Ephesians 6:10-18)” – Stephen D. Lucas(1952-), former soldier, current writer, speaker and minister
And:
“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” – Winston Churchill (1874-1965), British Politician, twice Prime Minister (1940-45, 1951-55), author, Historian.
